                        Deputy Superintendent (Secondary)

 

Position will be a part-time position.                        

Primary Purpose:

Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in cheerleading, including basic cheerleading skills, tumbling, dance, and stunting.  Contribute to education program as a whole and growth of students involved in cheerleading.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Preferred Bachelor’s’ Degree

Must be certified or willing to be certified in CPR, first aid and AED, and cheer safety

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures

Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures governing public school cheerleading

Knowledge of routines, tumbling, choreography, dance, and cheerleading skills

 

Experience:

Experience as cheer coach or participant in cheerleading

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Teach procedures, rules, conduct, accountability, techniques and skills needed for the cheerleading
  1. Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in
  1. Have high expectations; motivate cheerleaders to achieve maximum
  1. Be firm but fair, structured, and
  1. Manage and supervise conduct of cheerleaders at all practices and events to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good
  1. Supervise and make arrangements for cheerleaders to attend and cheer at the majority of home sports games and
  1. Communicate professionally and positively with students to enhance
  1. Communicate professionally and establish a mutual respect between yourself and cheerleader parents/guardians.
  1. Demonstrate consistency with disciplinary matters and treat cheerleaders and parents with
  1. Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations; take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and
  1. Keep informed of and ensure compliance with rules and other applicable guidelines and required standards for
  1. Continually evaluate coaching skills program and make changes based on
  1. Maintain an effective working relationship with the assistant school cheerleader sponsor and work together as a team to ensure the success of the cheerleading
  1. Assist with the setup of relevant day camps and cheerleader training during summer months to prepare for school
  1. Apply and enforce consistent student discipline during cheerleading activities and practice sessions in accordance with established guidelines, Cheerleader Constitution, Student Code of Conduct and Student
  1. Ensure that dance routines, stunts, tumbling, chants, are of high quality, entertaining, and present a positive reflection on the school represented.
  1. Establish and work with a competitive team of cheerleaders and handle all necessary facets of
  1. Coordinate campus pep rallies; prepare routines, with cheerleaders and support groups/booster clubs for pep rallies as needed and directed.
  1. Coordinate and actively prepare students for quality participation in tryouts, performances, camps, and competitive
  1. Communicate effectively with administration, students, coworkers, and the
  1. Ensure involvement in district and community events with cheer
  1. Maintain accurate inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operations of uniforms, equipment, Select and maintain uniforms and equipment in accordance with established school guidelines.
  1. Supervise cheerleaders at practice and athletic Stress good sportsmanship leadership, respect for school and teachers, fair play, and academic success.
  1. Make arrangements for transportation and chaperones for all activities in a timely manner, including administrative support, parent communication, submits bus request, medical release, itinerary for activities, school insurance or an approved insurance waiver form, and work cooperatively with support
  1. Plan, organize, and supervise fund raising activities according to district and campus

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Work is typically performed indoors in a gymnasium and outdoors; requires stamina and endurance and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.
